Featuring the performance of ten international artists, Malaysia celebrates ‘Rhythm & Sounds’ with the 11th edition of Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF). To be conducted from July 11-13, 2008 at the popular Eco-Habitat of Sarawak Cultural Village, RWMF will feature indigenous global beats and primitive musical notes.
The Rainforest World Music Festival is a unique platform that brings together, on the same stage, renowned musicians from all continents and indigenous musicians from the interiors of the mythical island of Borneo. It also provides an opportunity for music enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the vibrant music played by some of the most well known musicians.
More than ten musicians like the Ross Daly Quartet from Greece, Kasai Masai (Congo/UK), Oikyataan (India), Hiroshi Motofuji (Japan), Cholo Valderamma (Colombia), New Rope String Band (UK), Yakande (Gambia/Guinea), Adel Salameh (Palestine), Beltaine (Poland), Sheldon Blackman (Trinidad & Tobago) and indigenous musicians from the interiors of the island of Borneo will perform some of the very finest music at this year’s Festival. Many informative workshops, ethno-musical lectures, jamming sessions and mini concerts will also be held.
This year, RWMF’s programme chart also promises more excitement in the form of the Rainforest World Craft Bazaar 2008 and the Folk Art Forum. The Rainforest World Craft Bazaar will be enlivened by demonstrations of craftspeople at work, both live and on video. A crowd of over 20,000 eager browsers and shoppers is expected in this year.
