Korea Tourism Organisation (KTO) has launched first-ever National Tourism Office in South-West Asia in Delhi. Positioning itself as the Gateway to the East, KTO, under the tourism brand “Korea Sparkling”, aims to target the growing Indian outbound travel sector and attract more than 75,000 visitors from the Indian market in 2008. The new office positions KTO to provide a one-stop solution to all travel-related needs of prospective Indian visitors. Joint promotions, tactical campaigns and cross promotions will be part of KTO’s marketing initiatives.
Mr. Ju Nin Hong, Vice President, KTO led a high-level delegation, comprising travel agents and tour operators, to further explore business and networking opportunities with the Indian trade fraternity.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ju Min Hong said,” Understanding the growing prospects offered by the Indian tourism market, we are amongst the select NTOs from Eastern region to establish our base in India. From being a business destination, Korea is steadily emerging as an experimental holiday getaway for the evolved travellers from India… We would consolidate our presence in India through our tourism brand “Korea Sparkling”.
As part of the efforts to mark its presence in India, KTO has signed a MoU with the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) to build up mutually favourable business relations through travel and tourism. Amongst those present at the ceremony were Sanjay Narula, Managing Committee Member and Co-Convention Chairman, TAAI; Tae Shik Kim, Director, New Delhi Office, KTO and Kavi Ghei, Director, TRAC Representations (I) Pvt. Ltd. The MoU document, which non-binding and non-legal by nature will be a record of mutual understanding and intention of working together towards widening the scope of tourism exchange between the two organisations that are of great importance to travel trade in both countries. KTO has proposed to host the Annual TAAI Convention in Korea in 2009 or 2010.
KTO aims to concentrate on Seoul as a hub, offering a host of new and cosmopolitan facets of the country. Apart from its rich cultural heritage, amicable people and striking natural beauty, Kora offers a wide range of entertainment and leisure activities. Korea is also being projected as an ideal location for film shooting.
